In biomass energy plants, Induced Draft (ID) fans play a critical role in extracting flue gas, maintaining stable negative pressure, and ensuring optimal combustion efficiency. At the Idemitsu Vietnam Black Pellet Manufacturing Plant, TOMECO is proud to be the designer and manufacturer of a high-temperature ID fan system meeting Japanese standards, contributing to efficient plant operation and significant carbon emission reduction.

I. Project Overview
The Idemitsu Vietnam Black Pellet Plant is a large-scale biomass energy project located in Gia Lai Province (formerly part of Binh Dinh Province), with a capacity of 120,000 tons per year.
The project aims to reduce carbon emissions, utilize renewable energy sources, and contribute to the green development strategy of Idemitsu Group (Japan).
Since 2022, TOMECO has been selected as the partner for the design, manufacturing, and supply of key industrial fan systems, including ID Fans, high-temperature centrifugal Torrgas Fans, and Blend Air Fans, serving hot air supply lines, flue gas extraction and recirculation, and pellet combustion air supply systems.
II. Technical Requirements and Project Challenges
As a corporation with stringent technical standards, Idemitsu set high requirements for the industrial ID fan system:
High efficiency, energy-saving performance, and stable 24/7 operation
Absolute durability and airtightness to prevent gas and heat leakage
Explosion safety, compliant with Zone 2 requirements
Capability to operate in environments with fine wood dust, hot gas, humidity, and heavy dust adhesion
All TOMECO ID fan systems were designed, manufactured, and tested in compliance with:
ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System
AMCA Class IV – High-performance industrial fan design standard
IP54 motor protection rating
TCVN 9439 (ISO 5801) and TCVN 9075 (ISO 14694) – Fan performance testing and evaluation standards
III. TOMECO’s Technical Solutions
After surveying actual operating conditions at the plant, TOMECO developed a high-temperature ID fan and large-capacity industrial fan system with Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) control, optimizing airflow, pressure, and energy consumption.

1. ID Fan – Flue Gas Extraction and Recirculation Fan (Induced Draft Fan)
As the core component of the project, the TOMECO ID fan extracts hot flue gas from the combustion furnace and delivers it to the treatment and heat recovery system, improving production efficiency and reducing emissions.

2. Torrgas Fan – High-Temperature Centrifugal Fan for Hot, Humid Gas with Ash and Wood Dust
Model: CFD.BCP100.925
Airflow: 2,315 – 6,500 ACFM
Pressure: 27 – 29” W.C.
Temperature: 685 – 715°F
Motor: 45 kW – 2P
Materials: Heat-resistant steel, carbon graphite shaft sealing, high-temperature bearings and housings
3. Blend Air Fan – Air Mixing and Combustion Air Supply Fan
Model: CFD.BCP139.1245
Airflow: 3,164 – 15,000 ACFM
Pressure: 15 – 16” W.C.
Temperature: 150 – 200°F
Motor: 55 kW – 4P
Materials: Heat-resistant steel, carbon sealing system, high-temperature bearings
IV. Key Technical Enhancements
To ensure performance and durability of the ID fan and high-temperature fan system, TOMECO implemented multiple advanced technical improvements:
Fully sealed fan casing with thick thermal insulation to reduce energy loss and noise
Carbon graphite shaft sealing combined with high-pressure N₂ gas purging, creating positive pressure to prevent hot gas leakage
Anti-dust, wear-resistant, high-temperature impeller blades suitable for ash- and dust-laden environments
G2.5 dynamic rotor balancing, ensuring smooth operation, low vibration, and extended service life
- All TOMECO industrial fans undergo dynamic balancing, vibration measurement, airflow–pressure–noise testing before delivery.
The manufacturing and inspection processes were directly supervised by Idemitsu Japan engineers and the main contractor TTCL Vietnam, ensuring full compliance with international standards.
V. Installation, Commissioning, and Evaluation

The ID fan and centrifugal fan systems were installed synchronously with the MEP contractor within 1.5 months. TOMECO engineers directly participated in on-site guidance, technical supervision, alignment, and balancing.
Commissioning results:
All fans met design parameters with low vibration levels
Stable operation, high efficiency, and low noise
Highly appreciated by Idemitsu and TTCL for manufacturing quality, schedule compliance, and TOMECO’s technical capability
